Monsoon rain’s new session about to start across Pakistan until August 29, Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab Siddiqui announced an emergency, as Karachi to receive light and heavy rain sessions.

Karachi, Hyderabad, Dadu, Thatta, Badin, Sajawal, Shaheed Benazirabad, Jamshoro, Tando Allahyar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tharparkar, Nagarparkar, Islamkot, Mithi, Mirpurkhas, Umerkot, Matiari, Sanghar, and Sukkur.


Possibilities of severe thunderstorms, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department. Ghotki, Shikarpur, Kashmore, Khairpur, Larkana, Jacobabad, and Naushahro Feroze may experience strong winds and intermittent showers.


Heavy rainfall may lead to flooding in low-lying areas, disrupt daily life, and cause damage to weak infrastructure such as mud houses, walls, electric poles, vehicles, and solar panels, billboards, In Southeast Sindh, road closures traffic and fear of disconnection of the land route between the small towns.

The mayor announced a rain emergency to manage the aftereffects of the rainfall in the city. He instructed the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) municipal services and canceled the leaves of all relevant staff to prepare for the anticipated rains.

At the same time, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) advised all relevant agencies and the public to adopt necessary precautions to reduce the potential effects of flooding and heavy rainfall.

Fishermen across Sindh restricted by fisheries advisors. The Provincial Fisheries Advisor Syed Najmi Alam stops fishermen to avoid going for fishing in the sea for the next five days, there is a risk of flooding in the sea due to rains.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued a warning about significant rain and rough sea conditions caused by low atmospheric pressure and the current monsoon season, especially impacting the coastal areas of Sindh from August 26 to August 30, 2024.

As a result of these circumstances fishermen are urged to avoid deep-sea fishing during this time and to properly secure their boats, engines, and nets in safe places.
