
Indian to host two major cricket event as ACC has announced the hosting of the Asia Cup Men and Women 2025
The Asian Cricket Council has announced the hosting of the Asia Cup Men and Women 2025. Both the events will be hosted by India.
According to the reports The statement issued by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) said that India will host the Asia Cup 2025 which will be played in the T20 format.
Since the Asia Cup was played for the first time in the T20 format in 2016, the Asia Cup has been used as a dress rehearsal for the world event and is played in the format in which the next World Cup is scheduled.
The 2023 Asia Cup was held under the hybrid model, as India refused to travel to the neighboring country Pakistan and played all its matches in Sri Lanka.
The Asian Cricket Council gave hosting of the Asia Cup 2027 to Bangladesh, The 2027 Asia Cup will be held in one-day format because the one-day World Cup is scheduled in South Africa this year.
Afghanistan, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh are included in the Asia Cup tournament, while a non-test member of the Asian Cricket Council will participate in the event through the qualifying round.
India will participate in the tournament as a defending champion.India have won 3 of the last 4 editions of the Asia Cup, India defeated Sri Lanka by 10 wickets in last year’s 50 overs final in Colombo. It should be noted that India last hosted the Asia Cup in 1990-91 in which India defeated Sri Lanka in the final.
In total, there have been 16 Asia Cup tournaments since 1984, in which India has become the most champion 8 times, Sri Lanka has been able to win 6 times and Pakistan has been able to win only 2 times. Bangladesh played three finala of Asia Cup tournament but never be able to left the trophy.
