Paris Olympic 2024. Indian Wrestler Vinesh Phogat Got Disqualified From Gold Medal Match.

Vinesh Phogat was scheduled to wrestle in the gold medal match against USA’s Sarah Hildebrandt later today. She was competing in the 50 kg category but found overweight.

In a heartbreaking moment during the Olympics in Paris, India’s Vinesh Phogat could not compete in a wrestling match because she was overweight. She was going to wrestle for a gold medal, but now she is out of the tournament after disqualification.

She was scheduled to wrestle in the gold medal match against USA’s Sarah Hildebrandt later today. She was competing in the 50 kg category but found overweight.

Now the result is that she will no longer be eligible for any medal in Paralympics 2024. And as per the rules of the Olympics, she will now be ranked last in the 50 kg category. And her opponents from the USA’s Sarah Hildebrandt will now be unopposed in the first place in the gold medal race and have won the gold medal. As per the Economic Times report.

The Indian Olympic Association IOA said in a statement
“It is with regret that the Indian contingent shares news of the disqualification of Vinesh Phogat from the women’s wrestling 50kg class,”

“Despite the best efforts by the team through the night, she weighed in a few grams over 50kg this morning.”

Reacting to this, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked the Indian Olympic Association to appeal to the Paralympic Committee and register a strong protest before them and find a solution to this issue. And help Phogat in any possible way.

Vinesh, you are a champion among champions! You are India’s pride and an inspiration for each and every Indian.

Today’s setback hurts. I wish words could express the sense of despair that I am experiencing.

At the same time, I know that you epitomise resilience. It has always been your nature to take challenges head on.

Come back stronger! We are all rooting for you.
