The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a 15 member squad for the first Test against England which is about to start on October 7 in Multan.

Pakistan cricket team’s selectors have announced the 15-member squad for the first Test against England which is going to start from October 7 to 11 in Multan.

Shaan Masood has been appointed as the captain, while Saud Shakeel will be the vice-captain. The squad has a good mix of experienced and young players.  Left-arm spinner Nauman Ali, who has taken 47 wickets in 15 Tests, has been included in the squad in place of injured fast bowler Khurram Shahzad. Other notable players include Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Mohammad Rizwan.

Head coach Jason Gillespie has withdrawn players from the Champions One Day Cup play-offs after announcing the squad to rest them ahead of the crucial series against England. The training camp will start from October 1 in Multan. Keeping the same in mind, they came together in Multan on 30th September.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said in a statement “Following the squad announcement and based on the recommendation of head coach Jason Gillespie, the selected players have been withdrawn from the Champions One-Day Cup playoffs to allow them some rest ahead of the series,” the PCB said.

Shan Masood (captain), Saud Shakeel (vice-captain), Aamir Jamal, Abdullah Shafique, Abrar Ahmed, Babar Azam, Mir Hamza, Mohammad Huraira, Mohammad Rizwan (wicket-keeper), Naseem Shah, Noman Ali, Saim Ayub, Salman Ali Agha, Sarfaraz Ahmed (wicket-keeper), and Shaheen Shah Afridi.

The first test between Pakistan and England will be played from 7th to 11th October in Multan, while the second test, which was to be played in Karachi, was also shifted from Karachi to Multan Cricket Stadium by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), because National Bank Stadium in Karachi is under development, The renovation work of the ICC tournament ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is in progress, which Pakistan is hosting in 2025.

The Second Test will start from October 15th to 19th, The third Test will also be played as originally planned from October 24-28 in Rawalpindi between Pakistan and England.
